            [history] => This series contains applications to the Commissioner of Crown Lands for licenses to occupy land under the Deferred Payment scheme.  This scheme was dealt with by the Land Office the same way as a lease of land.  Deferred Payment allowed a purchaser to pay for the land in instalments.  An application would be made and the successful applicant had the right to occupy the land while he was paying it off.  On completion of payments the purchaser would be issued with a Certificate of Purchase.  The guardbook records details of the applicant and details of the land applied for, including price.  The guardbooks also has corresponding declarations by applicants attesting that they were over 18 and they would take up the Deferred Payment licence subject to certain conditions.  In addition each application has an account attached recording the schedule of payments made and the decision and the date of the Land Board Meeting is recorded on each application.
