1. Grounds for Restriction:
To protect personal privacy all records containing candidate names, identifying details, and candidate results are restricted for 100 years from the date of closure of the record.
The format of the records means that unrestricted public access would result in the unauthorised disclosure of the personal information and academic results of multiple living parties. Reference is made to Princicples 5 and 11 of the Privacy Act 1993.
Individuals may request copies of their own results by contacting the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. Charges apply for this service.
Duration of Restriction: 100 years
Restriction Applies From: Date of file closure
Coverage:
All candidate results records containing student names and marks or grades in all formats for the following examinations, qualifications, and awards:
- School Certificate
- Sixth Form Certificate
- Higher School Certificate
- Fine Arts
- University Entrance, University Bursary, and University Scholarship
- University Entrance Board Entrance Examinations
- Advanced Vocational Awards (including New Zealand Certificates and Technicians Certificates)
- Trade Certificates
- Advanced Trade Certificates
Access to Metadata is not restricted.
Further conditions:
On expiry of the 100 year access restriction these records can be made available to the public for research purposes, however, research results cannot be published in a manner that identifies any individuals by name.
2. Grounds for Restriction:
To protect personal privacy all records containing lists of candidate names or examination supervisors names and addresses are restricted for 70 years from the closure of the record.
The format of the records means that unrestricted public access would result in the unauthorised disclosure of the personal information for multiple living parties. Reference is made to Principles 5 and 11 of the Privacy Act 1993.
