Subject: Draft in Maori of letter to Raniera Kawhia that his tribe Ngati Porou have completed their passage on the steamer, and also the first part of the job for which they are asked to come here. Great is the bravery of Tuparoa, and of their chiefs, [and] of Te Hotene and Rapata.
Their tribe is one which is responsive towards the proper and true course of action. There is no dissension among them; they are of one mind, that good should prevail. They all mourn that good old man David, who was killed in battle.
