The functions of the Advisory Committee were to report to the Board on any matters referred to it by the Board for investigation; to consider methods for better control of the purchase, custody, distribution, use, disposal, inter-departmental transfer of, or payment for stores and to report to the Board.

This series consists of papers from the Commonwealth Fabric Corporation, a joint venture between the New Zealand Government and a private English company, Smith & Nephew Associated Companies Limited. The venture was to establish a cotton mill in Nelson to produce a substantial range of products.

The papers include certificates of shares, working papers, final accounts, correspondence, machinery orders, contracts, payments, receipts and minutes of shareholders.

This series consists of the Tenders Register for the Import Control Committee. The Import Control Committee oversaw purchasing decisions by government departments of indent imported goods to ensure Government purchasing policy was implemented. The Import Control Committee was an inter-departmental committee of the Government Stores Board. The committee was made up of representatives of the Treasury, the Ministry of Commerce, the Customs Department and the Government Stores Board. The committee was chaired and serviced by the Government Stores Board until it was disestablished on the 1 March 1989.

The register holds such information as: Department, Tender number, Application number, Description, Date, Collected by, Date.

This series consists of digital records contained on floppy disks, the digital records at the time of transfer had not been sighted until migration. The title description of what is contained on each disk in box 25 came from a small blue note book. The records are predominantly in relation to the Trans Power Establishment Board with some additional disks relating to Health. The title description for the disks in box 75 were transcribed from the individual disks.

The disks contain such records as: budget spreadsheets, letters, presentations, and reports from WEMS [Wholesale Electicity Market Study]. The WEMS recommended a major evolution of existing market arrangements to provide a predictable price path for wholesale electricity, and to enable some trading at marginal prices. Competition with the dominant generator ECNZ was envisaged.

This series contains the minute books for the War Assets Realisation Board.

The War Assets Realisation Board was a Government Department that was created post-World War II, the Board was responsible for redistributing surplus war stock to governmental departments and other private interests. The War Assets Realisation Board was active, probably under the leadership of the Minister of Finance and serviced by Treasury, from 1944 -1948. During this time the Brigadier H.E. Avery was the General Manager.

The minutes contain such information as: Present, Apologies, Material discussed could include; vessels, buildings, canvas, baking powder, ascorbic acid tablets, scrap metal, diesel engines, tyres, potatoes dried and canned, tape, helmets, concrete mixers, toothbrushes etc.

The functions of the War Assets Realisation Board were inherited by Government Stores Board when it was amalgamated in 1950.

This series consists of annual reports and internal reports of the Government Stores Board.

The internal reports contain such items as: policy and general, overseas purchasing, management support and advisory services, period contracts, disposal of surplus stores inspectorate, statistics, financial statements, contracts.

The annual reports contain such items as: research and development, inspections, period contacts for supplies and services, disposal of supplies stores, general - meetings, staff training, instructions, customs seized, statistics, value of Government imports, contracts.

This series consists of the Bicultural Management Programme which was developed for The Treasury by the IHI Management Consultants. The programme's objective was to provide the resources needed for the department to better met Maori needs.

The course was to lay a foundation that was to help The Treasury to be able to move into a bicultural and tribal arena in a way that would recognise and understand Maori aspirations. It was to provide some background material, and the historic and present day situation with Maori people to assist in the development of better bicultural understanding.

This series consists of records of the summaries of the Cash-Books, that were sent to Treasury each month from the Receiver of Gold Revenue books from the Thames and Coromandel region.

The records consist of a cover page detailing the summary for the month, which details the allocation of payments received. The summaries hold such information as: Date, Receipt number, From whom received, Particulars, County or Borough in which Revenue accrued, Miners rights, Miscellaneous Receipts, Rents and Royalties, Total , Payment to Public Accounts - Bank Receipt no., Amount. The individual receivers receipts are held at the back of the file that correspond to the receipt numbers listed on the summary.

This series comprises inwards letters and registered files of the Treasury. This series was the main record keeping system used by the department, and documents its activities and functions.

The series, which is the first sequence of The Treasury's main recordkeeping system, dates from 1841 to 1913. Records were organised according to the yearly number system, with each item of correspondence entered into a register and given a running number prefixed by the year. In 1913 this series was superseded by a second sequence of the central filing system that used the multiple number subject system of classification (see series 873).

W5783 consists of inward correspondence, the majority from the Thames/Coromandel area gold fields regarding gold field revenues and miners rights.

The majority of Treasury's inward correspondence for the years 1856 to 1913 is held in series 17391 (Record Group T1). Inward correspondence was recorded into registers that are held in series 17392 (Record Group T2) and indexed in series 17393 (Record Group T3).

This series was commonly referred to as the 'T' series and constituted the central filing system of Treasury from 1913 to 1991, when a new alpha-numeric filing system was introduced.

It should be noted that series 873 contains a number of files with pre-1913 material. This material has been top-numbered into the series from the predecessor annual single number series. Readers should also note that a card index controlling this series exists in series 24478.
