            [authenticityNote] => The Sheep Owner Returns, 1925-1930 and the Transcripts of the Royal Commission on the Sheep Industry, 1948 have been removed from Series 9423 (AG220/93) and put into new series: Series 9422 and 9421 respectively. This series description was compiled as part of a project to capture the finding aids created prior to 1987 into the GAIMS system. The grouping of these records into one series was made by Hocken Library. These records were transferred by the Department of Lands and Survey, Dunedin District Office, DAAK, to the Hocken Library between 1976 and 1983. Hocken Library was the approved repository for Archives New Zealand until 1993. The end date for series relationship with DAAK is taken to be 1983.

This series contains miscellaneous archives relating to various functions undertaken by the Crown Lands Department, Dunedin and its successors.
The Nevis Public Library Subscription Book, 1875-1898 is indexed by subscriber and also, includes their Cashbook, covering the period 1912-1951. This volume records subscription payments and the Library's Catalogue. The Nevis Public Library Issues Book, 1909-1934 is in Accession D303 and was transferred by the Department of Lands and Survey, Dunedin District Office in 1997.
The Deeds Book, 1894-1924, lists, by date, the copies of deeds (particularly for various tenure types) sent to various people or agencies.
The Record of Deeds Removed from the Safe, 1920-1937, shows the dates a deed was removed and returned to the Safe, the type of deed and reason for its removal (for example, to register a transfer) and the signatures of the departmental officers. 
The Record Book of Gazette Notices, 1950-1962, lists the gazette notices by year and number, the purpose of the notice, legal description of the land, land area, Head and District Office file numbers and any references to various land records.
