The dates of the series are based on the dates of the holdings. Provenance: Papers relating to the 1902 Colonial Conference (Series 8633) were found with old Treasury archives in a cellar beneath the General Assembly Library, and were transferred to the National Archives in May 1953. They were apparently collected by Mr Seddon's private secretary during the trip to Edward VII's Coronation, and the Imperial Conference 1902. Why the papers were included with the Treasury archives is unknown. Possibly they were deposited in this cellar (just below Seddon's former office), before it was used by Treasury as a storage place. The scrapbooks and the remainder of the papers were deposited at the National Archives by Mr T.E.Y.Seddon, son of Richard Seddon, and by Dame Elizabeth Knox Gilmer in 1957.
