	This is an artificial series comprised of miscellaneous maps either created by the Department of Lands and Survey, or belonging to the various Department of Lands and Survey and Department of Survey and Land Information map series.

	W4945

	The maps from accession W4945 were held as an unsorted group by Land Information New Zealand.  Due to the large number of different series involved, it was decided that an artificial series would be created for the maps.

	W5264

	A second group of maps, transferred by Terralink (Accession W5264), that were not identified with a particular NZMS map series, have been added to this artificial series.

	W5358

	The provenance of the papers in this accession is unclear.  They are reputed to have been retrieved from a rubbish bin by a researcher who handed them to the care of the Waitangi Tribunal.  The Tribunal subsequently transferred the papers to Archives New Zealand.  No information is known about the custody of the records in the years between their creation and their deposit with the Waitangi Tribunal.  The majority of papers transferred as W5358 related to the administration of the West Coast Settlement Reserves (series 16208).  Three plans from this accession had no known relationship to the Reserves and have been added to this artificial series.

	Item W5358/8 consists of a plan of Wendon, and notes regarding boundary amendments for an un-named block of land.  They were originally housed in an envelope labelled “Porirua Basin”, although there is no obvious relationship between the documents and Porirua.

	Related Series

	Series 6041 is another artificial series of miscellaneous survey maps from a variety of accessions.  It is likely that many of the maps from Series 7561 and 6041 belonged to the main map series of the Department of Lands and Survey and the Department of Survey and Land Information.
