After the end of the Second World War, various schemes were introduced to assist settlers wishing to establish farms under the auspices of the Lands and Survey Department. The Department maintained accounts on these farm settlements; recording their business activities.  
The account leaders in this series recorded the accumulated profit or loss for each farm settlement  – income less expenses – for an accounting period of 5 years.
