Information contained in the reports in this series relates to the discharge recommendations for the clients leaving Hokio, and Ward of the State status, addressed to the Director-General, Department of Social Welfare. They can take the shape of court reports, psychological reports, social worker notes and school reports. These reports formed the discharge recommendations for boys leaving Hokio.

Their information content is related to both series 6228 and series 6229.

Records in this series have been allocated record numbers based on the number they were given in the Admission Register for Hokio Beach School (series 6218). This is an annual single number based on year of admission and register entry number e.g. 74/23. Most records also have an alternative number which is a number with the prefix H (e.g. H378) and is the number that accompanies their entry in the indexes. It appears this H number was allocated annually to admitted clients in chronological order.
