The only item in the series that is held by Archives New Zealand dates from 1954, after the Stamp Department was superceded by the Inland Revenue Department. However, since entries in the ledger begin in April 1954, it seems likely that there were earlier items in this series, perhaps beginning at a time when the Stamp Department was still a separate administrative entity. Entries of payments in the ledger are divided into the various sources of revenue; such as, duty on instruments, gift duty, estate duty etcetera.
