	The civil minute books are a chronological record of civil high court hearings.  The earlier books are more detailed, but all books give the date of proceedings, the names of the parties, and the judge hearing the case.Names of jurors may be recorded.  From 1917 onwards, case file numbers are given.  Many of the books record cases heard in a particular court room, such as upstairs court, Court 4 etc.

	Some books are labelled Chambers and Banco - Chambers would mean hearings in judges' chambers and Banco means the bench (hearings in open court). 

	At first only Actions (later called Civil Proceedings) are documented in the minute books, but from about 1936 Miscellaneous cases are also recorded, together with some divorce and bankruptcy hearings.  From 1969 onward some criminal trials were heard in the courtrooms documented in the civil minute books.

	In 2003 a new filing system was introduced, with all civil side files registered in a single sequence.  However, the civil minute books were continued after this date.
