	This series was the central filing system of the Wanganui Office of the Ministry of Works. It covered both in house functions of the Office and work done for other government departments or on specific projects.

	The series documented  activities and work in Wanganui and the surrounding districts; this included work for town & country planning, creation of state highways and bridges, development of limited access roads and special projects.

	Note:

	 This series is closely related to series 10882  i.e. the Taumarunui Ministry of Works and Development for a time was a sub-office of Wanganui Works and Development, therefore some of the files in this series (5114) may have been created by the Taumarunui sub-office. For a comparison of files, check series 10882 (particularly in the case of accession W5683).

	1) All Plan and File Records Pertaining to the Construction, Repair and Maintenance of Parliament Buildings are restricted for 100 years from date of record closure, on the grounds of national security. This includes:

	The Beehive

	Bowen House (Kingsway Building)

	Parliamentary Library (Museum St Annexe)

	Legislative Building (Parliament, Executive Wing)

	2) All plan and file records pertaining to the construction, repair, maintenance and security of Ministry of Justice Court and other Sites are restricted for 100 years from the closing date of the record. Upon the expiration of 100 years the restriction will be reviewed.

	3) All records relating to land acquisitions  are restricted for 40 years from last date on file. Permission of the Manager, Crown Property.
