	These minute books can contain details of persons convicted of criminal offences.

	Access to records relating to criminal matters will no longer be restricted after 100 years has passed, however some records, or parts of records, may be sealed or restricted for longer periods by a court order.

	

	Such restrictions would be applied to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Privacy Act 1993 and/or the Criminal Records (Clean Slate) Act 2004, as well as other legislation which controls access to court records. Access to these records may be obtained via an application to the Minister for Courts, via the Ministry of Justice, or the relevant court.

	

	Please note: Additional rules regarding copying and publication etc. may be imposed by the relevant court  at the time of granting access to restricted records.
