	All Miscellaneous/General Register court files held by Archives New Zealand are subject to a minimum access restriction period of 60 years from the date of file closure.

	Files containing sensitive personal information, or information about criminal cases are restricted for 100 years from their dates of closure, in line with relevant legislation.

	Files containing adoption information are restricted indefinitely, in line with relevant legislation.

	Individual file listings are not able to be viewed on Archway, and all file listings have a precautionary 100 year access restriction applied; archivists must consult the appropriate controlling register (and/or the file) to determine the correct access restriction of individual files.
