This series contains Gore youth criminal case files heard at the Gore Youth Court (known as the Gore Children's Court up to 1975, and the Gore Children and Young Persons Court between 1975 and 1989). The Court was a division of the Gore District Court.

These files document the various elements that constituted a juvenile criminal case brought before the Gore Youth Court. They include summons to the defendant, (which included a description of the charge brought against the defendant), information for an Indictable Offence (which also describes the nature of the complaint), and in some instances reports from the child welfare officer and other agencies, such as the Department of Education (Child Welfare Division) and the Department of Social Welfare. The cover of each file noted the date, the parties involved and the decision which could include an order placing a child under the supervision of a welfare officer.

Not all case files have been retained - sample cases were selected to provide evidence of the types of proceedings that occurred in New Zealand's Youth Court system.

This series was superseded by the introduction of the Court's Case Management System (CMS) in late 2003.
