	This series consists of Miscellaneous Applications registers of the Pahiatua Magistrates Court.

	Miscellaneous applications covered legal matters not already covered by other proceedings (e.g. civil, criminal, bankruptcy). Applications were made to the Court for committal to institutions, extensions of licensing or shop hours, and trade licence applications (such as real estate agents, second-hand dealers and sharebrokers). Information about apprentices and applications under the Tenancy Act can also be found in these registers.

	The layout and use of the Miscellaneous Applications books was set out in the District Courts Rules 1948 (Reprint) (SR 1981/259).

	The information entered into these books were:

	

		All applications (including originating applications) that were not required by any Act or rule to be entered into a special register;
	

		A minute of the decision made in respect of such application and the name of the Stipendiary Magistrate/District Court Judge or Registrar who made the decision.
