This series consist of the Brightwater criminal record books, which recorded criminal cases heard at the Brightwater Magistrate's Court (known as the Spring Grove Resident Magistrate's Court from 1872 to 1877).
Each volume is pre-printed, with the top of each set of pages headed: Record of Proceedings in Criminal Cases in the Resident Magistrates/Magistartes Court at Brightwater. In columns underneath, the following information is contained:
- Date (of hearing);
- Number;
- Prosecutor;
- Persons charged;
- Offence;
- Plea;
- Decision;
- Date of issue of warrant of distress;
- Date of issue of warrant of imprisonment;
- Stamps (stamp duties);
- Amount of fines/costs (£, s, d).
In 1922 the Brightwater Magistrate's Court was closed, and the use of this series was discontinued.
