	The calendars listed prisoners sentenced at each sitting of the Supreme Court, Dunedin. Basic details of the prisoner and the sentencing were also listed.

	Some calendars for sentence were also filed in with the trial calendars in series 26800.

	The calendars were filled out on pre-printed forms. Originally Calendar of Prisoners for Trial forms were used, with the word "Trial" crossed out and changed to "Sentence". From 1944, the forms were titled Calendar of Prisoners for Trial or Sentence, and once again the word "Trial" was crossed out.

	Information recorded on the forms could include:

	- number

	- name

	- age

	- trade

	- where born

	- religion

	- offence

	- when and where committed

	- whether a first offender under "FOP Act 1908" (later FOP Act 1920)

	- degree of education

	- married or single

	- remarks

	Details of previous offences were often also listed.

	Those items titled "Lists of prisoners for sentence" included only the number, name, charges faced and sentence information.
