	These volumes record the minutes of Temuka District Court criminal and civil sittings. Until 1873, the Temuka District Court was known as the Arowhenua District Court.

	At the time of these sittings there were District Courts operating concurrently to the Magistrates' Courts. These District Courts operated as regional courts, often holding sittings at several different locations. They were distinct from the Magistrates' Courts, which were operating at the same time under different legislation.
