This series contains images from the Historic Photographic Collection created by the Dominion Analyst, the Head Office and various branches and divisions of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and Industrial Research Limited. The bulk of the collection was transferred by Callaghan Innovation, which inherited the photographs from Industrial Research Limited.
The collection is made up images relating to scientific and industrial research carried by these agencies, and are of staff, places, events, and experiments.
Photographic material includes:
glass negatives;
microfilms;
photographic negatives;
photographic positives (prints);
photographic albums; and
slides.
An artificial record numbering system has been created by Archives New Zealand for images transferred in accession W5990 and W6020 based on the original box and envelope numbers that the collection was contained in prior to transfer.
