	Domestic Proceedings files, later known as Family Proceedings files, contain court papers, correspondence, orders, and evidence relating to custody, guardianship, access and paternity of children; domestic violence; matrimonial related cases & property issues; mental health issues; and maintenance cases. The files from this series pertain to cases in the Rangiora area.

	The Christchurch District Court (Family Court arm) took over Rangiora's family jurisdiction from the mid-1990s.The Rangiora District Court closed on 31 March 2014. All Rangiora court services have been permanently transferred to the Christchurch District Court.

	Restricted 100 years from last date on file. Requests for access should be directed to the Registrar, Christchurch Family Court.

	Under both High Court Rules and Family Court Rules former parties to a marriage or a civil union have an unrestricted right to obtain a copy of the order dissolving the marriage or civil union. These dissolution orders can be viewed at, or copies obtained from Archives New Zealand on production of sufficient proof of identity (photo identification e.g. passport/drivers’ license).
