The files in this series, concerning matrimonial matters or matters relating to minors, contain court papers, correspondence and orders relating to miscellaneous applications made subsequent to family proceedings hearings in Rangiora.

They were initially known as Miscellaneous Domestic Proceedings files, before a change of name to Miscellaneous Family Proceedings files in 1981.

Domestic/Family Proceedings and Miscellaneous Domestic/Miscellaneous Family Proceedings files were on the same running number sequence 1978-1983, from 1984 they are on separate sequences but registered in the same register and still filed and boxed with one another.

The Christchurch District Court (Family Court arm) took over Rangiora's family jurisdiction from the mid-1990s.The Rangiora District Court closed on 31 March 2014. All Rangiora court services have been permanently transferred to the Christchurch District Court.
