	This is an artificial series created by Archives New Zealand. The records in this series were gathered together and used by the GSF in the administration of its functions and activities. Included in the series are 2 boxes of multiple number subject files (dating from 1908-1950s) and annual single number files (1908-1917) that were created by predecessor agencies to the GSF. (The majority of records in the series are unregistered files created by the GSF).

	Due to the fact that the records were gathered together and used by the GSFas a 'collection', and also due to lack of recordkeeping provenance information, the records have been described as a single artificial series.

	This series is comprised of miscellaneous records created in the administration of the Government Superannuation Fund [GSF] and also predecessor superannuation funds. Most of the records are unregistered and are possibly counterparts to the alpha-numeric files in series 21743 but  were not registered within the GSF file classification system.

	The Government Superannuation Fund (GSF) came into existence on 1 April 1948 as a result of the Superannuation Act 1947 whereby the Teacher's Superannuation Fund, the Public Service Superannuation Fund, and the Government Railways Superannuation Fund were amalgamated under a single Board.

	This series of mainly unregistered files complements series 21743 (Government Superannuation Fund alpha-numeric files) as it covered the same wide range of GSF functions from administration and finance to information technology and human resources management.
