		The volumes in this series contains summary information relating to liquor licensing applications to the Manawatu Licensing Committee which met at the Palmerston North District Court and other outlying courthouses.
	

		The role of the Licensing Committee was to consider applications for liquor licences and other matters relating to the sale of alcohol in the district. Most entries in the volumes are typed minutes of licensing committee hearings, and may give the names of hotels and their licensees, while also included are loose pages of correspondence regarding the appointment of members of the licensing committee, and some newspaper cuttings regarding matters relating to liquor licensing or hotels.
