The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act 1943 provided a mechanism for the compulsory acquisition of farm land for the settlement of discharged servicemen. Under the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Regulations 1949 Amendment No. 1 (passed in 1950), notices of motions could be filed with the relevant Land Valuation Court requesting certain lands to be declared to not be farm land, therefore exempting it from the compulsory acquisition provisions of the 1943 Act.
These files contain the notices of motions heard by the Dunedin Land Valuation Court, and all other relevant papers filed, including Court orders made. The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act 1943 expired on 30 June 1952.
