            [history] => In 1922, the Dunedin City Corporation made an application under the Mining Act 1908 to surrender mining privileges absolutely.  This application was in respect to various dam licenses, special site licenses and water race licenses.  The application was made to the Lawrence Warden's Court, despite the Naseby Wardens Court having taken over responsibility for the Dunedin region after the Dunedin Warden's Court was abolished in January 1922.  The relevant license files were taken out of the Dunedin Warden's Court application files (series 21155) and sent to Lawrence for surrender.  They were then returned to Dunedin, where they remained as a separate sequence of files.
