This booklet provided access to the deeds of assignments issued to creditors under the Debtors and Creditors Act 1862.  These deeds assigned all of a debtors divisible property for the benefit of creditors.  The deed authorised the trustee to sell all of the debtor's divisible assets, immediately releasing the debtor from all provable debts and allowing the debtor to restart without having to provide further contributions from after-acquired property or income.  This was a legal alternative to bankruptcy.
