	Invercargill Resident Engineer's maps and plans were filed within this system after the Invercargill Resident Engineer's Office closed in 1966. While Invercargill plans belonging to series 20073 have been identified as much as practicably possible, some may still be found in this series.

	This series constitutes the main filing system of maps and plans for the Dunedin District Engineer's Office.  The maps and plans were either drawn by the Dunedin Office, or forwarded from other Offices or Departments and then registered into the Dunedin filing system.  Also included in this series are various reports, specifications, contracts, and photographs.  Subject matter covered included all aspects of railways maintenance, new projects and demolition, leasing of railway land and houses, land acquired by the department, and railways accidents or other incidents.
