This series comprises a district board letterbook, a rating book and rating papers with maps created by the Rangitaiki Drainage Board.  A drainage board was established under the Drainage Board Act of 1908 to undertake the drainage of swampy land in the Rangitaiki district.  By 1910 the scheme had grown beyond the resources of the original board and a special act was passed, the Rangitaiki Drainage Act, constituting a new board with greater powers.  The series contains records of both boards.
