 The items within the series were retained as public archives primarily because they are 19th century documents.
Included amongst the records in this series are the following:

Court papers from the Akaroa Magistrate's Court summoning individuals to a hearing to determine their eligibility to be on the Electoral Roll following an Objection. Information on these forms includes the name of the defendant, name of the summoning magistrate, grounds of the objection and an affidavit signed by the constable responsible for delivering the summons. These records primarily concern voters previously registered in Ellesmere.
A slim letter-press book of the Ellesmere District Registrar of Electors, Mr H Dawson, containing outwards correspondence.
