Reports that King Tawhiao has declared there shall be peace for 18 months. Warns of likelihood of serious dispute between Waikato and Ngati Maniapoto due to Aukati preventing them from bringing cattle and produce to market. Natives suffering considerably from fevers. Mr Lewis has had considerable success among the Natives with his medicine, is very popular. Natives and Europeans both lacking in funds but crime is declining.
