Miscellaneous case files are generally restricted for 60 years from last date of closure. 

Some specific Miscellaneous files may be restricted for longer periods dependent on content, in accordance with rules governing access to court documents as outlined in section 3.12 of the Judicature Act 1908.  For example, access to files containing adoption information is currently indefinitely restricted under section 23 of the Adoption Act 1955; access to files containing criminal information is currently restricted for 100 years from date of last action, as per the guidelines in the Courts Access Schedule (Archway access authority AA886). 

Where file contents have not yet been fully checked, restrictions beyond 60 years may also remain in place.

Access to restricted records is with the permission of the Blenheim High/District Court.
