(1.) The record of proceedings of a court of inquiry are restricted indefinitely in accordance with s 200T of the Armed Forces Discipline Act 1971 and are not to be disclosed without the authority of the superior commander of the Service concerned.
(2.) In addition, Court Martial records are restricted indefinitely in accordance with s 75 of the Court Martial Act 2007 and require the authority of the Judge Advocate General for disclosure.
(Note that this restriction does not apply to the following files: DA 1/8/1, DA 1/8/4, DA 1/9/A51/3, DA 1/9/SD81/47, DA 11/9/6/1, DA 421/8, DA498/1.)
(3.) Preservation Access Statement
Some records are protected under section 49(1)(a) of the Public Records Act 2005.
Photographs require that gloves are worn when viewing.
Rolled items in a toblerone box require special handing due to their size and storage conditions. Gloves and paper weights will be provided where required.
The original record is not issuable if a microfilm exists. The microfilm can be used as a viewing copy. Contact Archives New Zealand for permission to view or the availability of alternative access provisions. Viewing is by appointment only.
