Show Series Access Statement
1. W3773, W5021 and W5198: Files in this series containing personal information are restricted for 70 years from date of closure to protect the privacy of individuals, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993. Accredited agents of Land Information New Zealand and those to whom the Chief Crown Property Officer, Land Information New Zealand, has given written authorisation are exempted from the restriction.
2. W4923 and W5339 - A restriction of 50 years from the closing date of the file applies to records containing information concerning:
a) property purchase
b) claims made on National Roads Board by individuals.
This restriction can be waived in the event of the death of the parties involved.
3.. W4357: 2/- Establishment files and 9/- job application files are restricted for reason of personal privacy for a period of 70 years from date of last action.
4. All plan and file records pertaining to the construction, repair and maintenance of Parliament Buildings are restricted for 100 years from date of file closure, on the grounds of national security. This includes: The Beehive, Bowen House (Kingsway Building), Parliamentary Library (Museum St Annexe), Legislative Building (Parliament, Executive Wing).
5. All plan and file records pertaining to the construction, maintenance and repair of 260 Tinakori Rd (Premier House), 75 Woburn Rd (Vogel House) or any other ministerial property is restricted for 100 years from file closure on the grounds of national security.
6. All plan and file records pertaining to the construction, repair, maintenance and security of Ministry of Justice Court and other Sites are restricted for 100 years from the closing date of the record.
Upon the expiration of 100 years the restriction will be reviewed.
7. W3950 - Files in series 27/- (Industrial Accidents to Workmen) are restricted for either 100 years from date of birth or 40 years from date of death, whichever is sooner. To gain access to these records proof confirming a date of birth or death outside the stated restriction periods, or written permission from the access contact, will be required. As the transferring agency was disestablished in 1999, it has not yet been determined which agency is now responsible for granting access to restricted records. Written permission should be sought from Archives New Zealand.
Preservation Restriction
Some records are protected under section 49(1)(a) of the Public Records Act 2005.
Burnt files (W4357) are not issuable as they are fragile. Contact Archives New Zealand for permission to view or the availability of alternative access provisions. Viewing may be by appointment only.
Photographs require that gloves are worn when viewing.

3. W4357: Works Consultancy Services Ltd. was disestablished in 1996 and purchased by a private company Opus International Consultants Ltd. The Public Service Commission now has responsibility for these records, and access is with their written permission.
