Statutory Functions and Responsibilities of the Department of Labour

A General functions and responsibilities concerning the labour force and employment

1 Promoting and maintaining full employment, training, safe and healthy working conditions, good relationships between employers and workers, and the proper fulfilment by employers, workers and other persons of obligations placed upon them by awards and agreements and by the acts, regulations and orders administered by the department (Labour Department Act 1954)

2 Providing a complete employment service to assist employers and employees (ibid)
