On 1st July 1992, as a direct result of the amalgamation of the Police and the Traffic Safety Service of the Ministry of Transport, New Zealand Police moved the record-keeping function from their station at Newmarket to the former traffic building at 111 Great South Road, Greenlane. In 2008 there was still a Police station operating at Newmarket.
