There was a Post Office at Coromandel between 15 December 1857 to 6 August 1862 [see agency BBTU]. During the 1860's Coromandel was known as Waiau. On 6 August 1862 the Post Office moved to Kapanga. Between 1875 to 1 February 1882 there was a Telegraph Office at Coromandel but no postal facilities.
