A temporary school building was rented at Upper Okauia from August 1912-May 1914, known as Upper Okauia School. 

The Omahine School building was erected to replace this temporary school, and the build completed in October 1914.  An additional classroom was erected in 1918, and a teacher's residence in 1921.  

In November 1922 the school and school district was renamed Te Poi.

Education Act 1914

Te Poi School, near Matamata, opened in 1914 and offers primary school education. When first built the school was known as Omahine.

A temporary school building was rented at Upper Okauia from August 1912-May 1914, known as Upper Okauia School. 

The Omahine School building was erected to replace this temporary school, and the build completed in October 1914.  An additional classroom was erected in 1918, and a teacher's residence in 1921.  

In November 1922 the school and school district was renamed Te Poi.
