In 1995 the Government commissioned a major review of the provision of career information and guidance. The results of this review led to a restructuring of The Careers Service, which established an internal business unit but also streamlined its twenty-two offices into 11 branches and 4 sub-offices. The changes took effect from 1 July 1996, at which time the Kaitaia Office closed1.
