1914 - The first published instance of the Marine Department in Hamilton (1). Staff included a Surveyor of Ships and Inspector of Machinery.
1953 - By this date the Engineer Surveyor had replaced the Inspector of Machinery (2).
1972 - The Hamilton office of the Marine Department was dis-established when it was amalgamated with the Ministry of Transport, Hamilton.
