            [history] => The Commissioners, with Richmond Beetham (Wakatipu Warden) as Chairman, were appointed to inquire into the best method of utilising the Wakatipu Depasturing District. Their report (28 April 1873) was tables before the Otago Provincial Council on 7 May 1873, and recommended the continuation of the present system of management, i.e. by a Board elected by settlers, acting on amended regulations.
